San José State University (commonly referred to as San Jose State or SJSU) is a comprehensive public university located in San Jose, California, United States. It is the founding school of the 23-campus California State University (CSU) system, and holds the distinction of being the oldest public institution of higher education in the western half of the United States.
Location
Our campus is located in the heart of Silicon Valley, in urban downtown San Jose, California on 154 acres of land. It is close to restaurants, public transportation and housing.

Upper Division Transfers
1. Earn Enough Units to Reach Junior Standing (60 or more transferable semester units or 90 or more quarter units)
2. Complete 30 semester units (45 quarter units) of general education including four basic skills courses:
A1 - One course in oral communication
A2 - One course in written composition
A3 - One course in critical thinking
B4 - One course in college-level mathematics or quantitative reasoning, with intermediate algebra as a prerequisite
3. Earn a college grade point average of 2.00 or better in all transferable courses.
4. Be in good standing at the last college or university that you attended.
5. Submit official test scores from an approved English Language Proficiency test (TOEFL, IETLS, or PTE).
Lower Division Transfers
You will be considered a lower division applicant if you will have earned less than 60 semester/90 quarter transferable units by the time of enrollment.
You will be eligible to be reviewed for admission by SJSU if you meet the following criteria:
1. Have earned less than 60 semester/90 quarter transferable units
2. Meet all Freshman Admission Requirements
3. Earn a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or greater in all U.S. college/ university work and a “B”/3.0 in any international coursework
4. Submit official test scores from an approved English language proficiency test (TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE)
5. Be in good standing at the last institution you attended
