Founded in 1893 as the state's first teacher education institution, Montana Western continues its traditions of academic excellence and innovation as the first and only public four-year university to implement a block-scheduling system in which students take (and professors teach) one class at a time. This highly successful program of experiential learning is known as Experience One.
